Research Units and Labs

Choice of partnership

For 10 years, l'Institut Agro Rennes-Angers has chosen to partner to develop its research activities.

The 13 research units (11 of which are under the authority of l'Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, and with 3 of which it is associated) cover the 5 main areas with high application potential that l'Institut Agro Rennes-Angers is keen to develop :

  1. Vegetal, animal, systems
  2. Environmental issues - resources, territories and urban planning
  3. Fisheries science, sea, coastal zones
  4. Food science
  5. Landscapes

Its 130 research-lecturers conduct academic or applied research, intended to respond in an innovative fashion to current issues in life sciences. Scientific projects are jointly defined with partners.

BAGAP Research Unit

The joint research unit Biodiversity, Agroecology and Landscape Planning (BAGAP) brings together the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and 2 higher education institutes: l'Institut Agro, and ESA Angers Loire.

DECOD Research Unit

The joint research unit Dynamics and sustainability of ecosystems: from the source to the ocean (DECOD) brings together scientists from: the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE), National Institute for Ocean Science (IFREMER) and l'Institut Agro. It is located in Brest, Lorient, Nantes and Rennes.

EPHOR Research Unit

This l'Institut Agro Rennes-Angers research unit focuses on the physical environment of the horticultural plant.

ESO Research Unit

The joint research unit Spaces and Societies (ESO) brings together the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), 5 Univerities located in Angers, Nantes, Caen, Le Mans, and Rennes and l'Institut Agro.

IGEPP Research Unit

The joint research unit Institute for Genetics, Environment and Plant Protection (IGEPP) brings together the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE), l'Institut Agro and Rennes University.

IRHS Research Unit

The joint research unit Research Institute of Horticulture and Seeds (IRHS) brings together the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE), l'Institut Agro and the University of Angers. It is located in Angers.

IRISA Research Unit

The joint research unit Institute for Research in Computer Science and Random Systems (IRISA) results from a collaboration between CentraleSupélec, CNRS, ENS Rennes, IMT Atlantique, Inria, INSA Rennes, Université Bretagne Sud, Université de Rennes. An agreement allows our professors to carry out research activities within the LACODAM team.

IRMAR Research Unit

The Rennes Mathematical Research Institute (IRMAR) gathers mathematicians from University of Rennes, University of Rennes 2, ENS Rennes, INSA and CNRS. The laboratory also includes mathematicians from l'Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, DGA Maîtrise de l’Information and ENSAI.

NuMeCan Research Unit

The joint research unit Nutrition, Metabolisms and Cancer (NuMeCan) brings together Rennes University, Rennes University Hospital, Eugène Marquis Centre, the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).

PEGASE Research Unit

The joint unit research Physiology, Environment, and Genetics for the Animal and Livestock Systems (PEGASE) brings together the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and l'Institut Agro.

It is situated in Brittany.

SAS Research Unit

The joint research unit Soil, Agro- and Hydro-systems, spatialization (SAS) is established in Rennes with a secondary site in Quimper. It brings together the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and l'Institut Agro.

SMART Research Unit

In Nantes and Rennes, the joint research unit Strucrures and Markets in Agriculture, Resources and Territories (SMART) brings together the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and l'Institut Agro.

STLO Research Unit

The joint research unit Science and Technology of Milk and Eggs (STLO) combines human resources from both French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and l'Institut Agro. It is located in Rennes.
